Shoulder impingement is the most common pathological condition of shoulder dysfunction. The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that attach the upper arm bone to your shoulder. The rotator cuff sits under the top of the shoulder, which is called the acromion. In shoulder impingement, the rotator cuff catches or rubs against the acromion. As a result, pain is caused in the shoulder and the arm (front and side) in specific movements and positions.
Frequent and repeated movements of the shoulder with increased speed, or movements above the shoulder level without proper arm-shoulder-chest coordination, create the conditions for poor mechanical operation of the shoulder joint, as well as the injury of the soft structures that rub on the bone.
Successful treatment requires correcting the cause of the problem, rather than just relieving pain. For this reason, classic physiotherapy (diathermy, electrotherapy, laser, iontophoresis) and anti-inflammatory drugs have poor results.
The correction of the mechanical function of the shoulder joint is achieved by specific techniques of manual therapy, as well as by exercises that retrain the neuromuscular system.
The specialized team of Physiokinesis provides the services, as well as the necessary training of the patients individually, with the sole aim of improving and permanently restoring the condition.
