Osteoarthritis of the knee is when the cartilage, meniscus, ligaments and knee bones become damaged.
Symptoms of knee osteoarthritis are: pain in front of the kneecap, pain in the joint space, pain at the back of the knee in the popliteal cavity, and sometimes calf pain.
Another symptom is stiffness, that is, the difficulty of the knee opening and closing completely. So, the patient hurts on the knee and calf, cannot kneel easily or make a deep squat and it gets harder on the stairs and while walking.
Sometimes the patient reports cramps in the leg that corresponds to the problematic knee.
